Welcome to Fly Vermont, your local flying club.

Aviation offers a unique sense of freedom and adventure, and the Franklin County Flying Club provides an affordable way for pilots to take to the skies. Our club was founded to make flying more accessible to those who share a passion for aviation.

With rising fuel costs, aviation has become more expensive, but we are committed to keeping flying as economical as possible for our members. While fuel prices fluctuate, we work hard to manage other fixed expenses to ensure an affordable flying experience. Our biggest expense is insurance, but by maintaining a strong community of responsible pilots, we strive to keep costs manageable.

We limit our active membership to a maximum of twenty pilots to ensure aircraft availability, though we also welcome occasional renters. Scheduling is managed through PilotSchedule.com, making it easy to book flights. If your plans change, please cancel your reservation online or contact George at (802) 363-5782.

Flying is an adventure that should be shared. Join the Franklin County Flying Club and become part of a community that values the freedom and joy of flight.

Rules & Guidelines

Membership Fees & Payments

Membership dues are $50 per month, billed quarterly at $150 in advance for three months.

Dues primarily cover maintenance and hangar fees.

Payments must be made by check, cash, or PayPal.

Failure to pay aircraft rental fees and club dues by the 15th of the billing month will result in membership suspension until all fees are paid in full.

Suspended members lose access to club aircraft.

The maximum outstanding credit allowed is $500.

Sales tax will be applied to all aircraft rentals.

Scheduling & Aircraft Usage

To ensure fair access, all members must share flying time equitably.

The club operates four aircraft, and overnight or multi-day trips require advance scheduling.

Overnight trips can be scheduled up to three months in advance.

Day-use flights may be scheduled up to two weeks in advance.

Members may not pre-schedule more than three flying days per week to allow others access. If the aircraft remains unscheduled, you may extend beyond your three reserved days.

Resolving Scheduling Conflicts

If your preferred time slot is taken, you may contact the scheduled pilot to see if they are flexible with their reservation.

If an equitable agreement cannot be reached, contact George Coy (802-363-5782) for assistance.

Required Documentation

All members must complete a Fly Vermont Aircraft Rental Pilot Information Form (attached).

Members are required to carry renter’s insurance with a minimum of:

  • $70,000 hull insurance for N5847U, N150VT, N99DT

  • $80,000 hull insurance for N172VT and N3871R

A copy of your insurance policy, medical certificate, and flight review records must be provided.

Members must update the club upon renewing medical certificates, bi-annual flight reviews, or insurance policies.

Aircraft Maintenance & Safety

Safety is a top priority. A Squawk Sheet is provided in the aircraft and must be reviewed before each flight.

If a safety issue is identified, any pilot may declare the aircraft unairworthy by placing a placard near the controls for all members to see.

Report maintenance concerns by leaving a note on George Coy’s desk or contacting him directly at (802-363-5782).

If emergency maintenance is needed at another airport, contact George Coy for authorization before proceeding.

The pilot in command is fully responsible for the safety of each flight, not the club or Fly Vermont LLC.

Checkride & Exam Scheduling

Members working on a pilot’s license or additional rating may require the aircraft for checkrides.

As examiners can be difficult to schedule and weather may cause last-minute changes, club members are expected to be flexible.

If an aircraft you have scheduled is needed for an exam, you will be contacted to coordinate.
